Hi, I’m Molly Garrett!

I’m a creative person working in Kansas City, MO with 7+ years of professional experience in motion graphics and animation. I’m also very involved in midwestern progressive politics & LGBTQ+ organizing.

Currently, I am Lead Motion Designer for GPSImpact, a political advocacy firm. At GPSImpact, our clients include non-profit and political organizations such as Planned Parenthood, ACLU, Jobs for Justice and The Fairness Project.

I also serve on the board at the Nicolas Gogan Foundation, of which I am a co-founder. The Nicolas Gogan Foundation is a mutual aid fund for the survival and success of transgender, non-binary and gender nonconforming individuals.

I have a personal practice as an independent animator. I have been included in film festivals such as Animation Block Party, Melbourne Queer Film Festival, Minneapolis St Paul International Film Festival, and Berlin Feminist Film Week. I have also shown animated installation pieces locally at Epsten Gallery, Paragraph Gallery, Vulpes Bastille, La Esquina and the H&R Block Artspace.

Previously, I was a co-director & curator at Plug Projects, an artist-run gallery and project space. I was an artist-in-residence in the Charlotte Street Foundation Studio Residency from 2015-2017. I also have experience working at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, HINT, and The Studios Inc.

I graduated with a BFA in Animation and Art History from KCAI.
