A Fugue State

1. (psychiatry) a psychiatric disorder characterized by short-lived, reversible episodes of amnesia, including the inability to recall some or all of one’s past and loss of a sense of personal identity

2. (music) a composition in which a melody or phrase is introduced by one part, then successively taken up by others, until fully developed by the interweaving of the parts.

“Molly Garrett hosts her first solo show, A Fugue State, displaying recent animated and installation work.  Shadows//Time, an animated short film, was created during Molly’s semester in Tasmania and is informed by Javanese shadow puppets and animation pioneer, Lotte Reiniger.  Complementing the animation is an eight part time-based installation, Sediment.  Together they examine the relationship between present reality, memory and time.”
