Since delving into Autodesk Maya software, I have been curious as to how it could be involved in my personal artistic practice.  Although I understood it was necessary to learn all the basics, and rig characters and learn dynamics — I was more interested in the possibilities for non-traditional experimentation.

I got the chance to do this in a recent project.  My current work is heavily focused on the figure and narrative of a female presence, so I decided to play with Maya 3D elements in their relation to a live-action model.   I haven’t included it in my portfolio, because I feel like it’s much more of a sketch than anything else.  But it has potential, even if it’s not fully realized yet.

Not only was this a chance to see the integration of fake 3D with real 3D (Maya and real life), it was a chance to brush up on some digital skills that needed polishing.
This sketch involved the integration of 3D Photoshop Live, After Effects, Maya and some tricky camera work on a green screen.
And much thanks to the lovely Carrie Riehl, for agreeing to model for me!
